Spelling Bee |
MINTA’s 1st National Spelling Bee During the month of May 2011, the National Telecommunications Authority (NTA) held its first national spelling bee competition for both elementary and high schools. The event was held, via live conference call, at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Delap. The competition featured students from both Ebeye and Majuro school districts. Live broadcasts by V7AB and NTA’s MHTV were available to the public. This special live video broadcast was to emphasize the presence of the company’s newly utilized submarine fiber optic cable. Marshall Islands High School and Rita Baptist Christian Academy took home complete computer labs with a full year of high speed Internet. The winning contestants were Carsia Alik of the Christian Academy, and Bate Dismas of MIHS. The NTA-sponsored Spelling Bee witnessed a very high interest and turnout of our schools for the very first televised contest in the Republic. NTA would like to thank all the volunteers that helped coordinate the event and also congratulate all participants for proudly representing their schools. NTA would also like to give a special thanks to the Ministry of Education for their kind support and guidance.
